From Abubakar Abdullahi, Lafia
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has revealed that he might run for the senatorial seat representing Nasarawa North in the 2027 elections.
The governor shared this information during a visit with state executive council members, including Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, at his residence in Gudi, located in the Akwanga local government area.
Sule pointed to the demand for improved representation for the region and acknowledged that various stakeholders have urged him to make the run.
"With all the pressure coming from our leaders, I don’t want them to feel neglected or that I am unresponsive. I assure them that I will contest when the appropriate time arrives," he stated.
He mentioned that he initially intended to support another candidate but reversed his decision after that candidate also urged him to enter the race.
The governor is in the process of consulting with stakeholders before finalizing his decision, noting encouragement from traditional rulers and senior politicians from Nasarawa North.
Sule will vacate his role as governor after completing two four-year terms.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the cabinet's loyalty to the governor, stating, "We will swim with you until we get to the touch line, and together we will shout hurray! We have come, we have seen, we have conquered."
