Abdulrahman Haske, a co-founder of the AB Haske Foundation and a governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, along with two other notable Nigerians, has been recognized with prestigious awards at the recent African Heritage Awards (AHA). The annual event, which took place in Accra, Ghana, also honored Akinwumi Adesina, the former President of the African Development Bank, and Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Nigeria’s Head of Civil Service.
Mr. Haske received the African Humanitarian Award, while Mr. Adesina was presented with the African Lifetime Achievement Award. Ms. Walson-Jack was honored with the African Public Service Award. These Nigerians, alongside other awardees from across Africa, were celebrated for their significant contributions as innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders who are shaping a positive future for the continent.
The African Heritage Awards aim to acknowledge and showcase African excellence, innovation, and leadership. The recipients were selected for their outstanding achievements and dedication to fostering development and prosperity across Africa.
During the award ceremony, Ghanaian President John Mahama lauded the recipients for their commitment to advancing African development. He noted that the awardees were chosen from a competitive pool of nominees and have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the continent's progress.
President Mahama commended the awardees for embodying African resilience and for investing their time and resources into promoting the continent’s aspirations. He highlighted their efforts in driving the African developmental agenda forward.
The AB Haske Foundation delegation, which included Homun Alhamdu, Chairman of the Batta Traditional Council in Adamawa State, accompanied Mr. Haske to the event in Ghana. His African Humanitarian Award specifically acknowledges the foundation's significant contributions through its people-focused and humanitarian initiatives, which have positively impacted numerous lives, particularly within Nigeria.
Upon receiving his award, Mr. Haske expressed gratitude to the organizers for recognizing him and the AB Haske Foundation. He acknowledged the presence of distinguished personalities, including the President of Ghana, and dedicated the award to his foundation's team and the young people in Nigeria who have benefited from their investments.
Mr. Haske emphasized his belief in Nigeria's potential and resilience, stating that this conviction inspired the establishment of the foundation. He highlighted the importance of giving back and supporting others, a principle central to the foundation's work.
He further remarked, "Africa’s future will not be built by governments alone. It will be built by Africans who decide that the person next to them deserves a chance. Nigeria understands this. We have always been a country of people who show up for each other, and that spirit is what drives everything we do through the Foundation."
The organizers pointed out that the AB Haske Foundation has implemented impactful projects in education, skills development, youth empowerment, and humanitarian aid, benefiting thousands in underserved communities and promoting self-reliance. Mr. Haske's advocacy for sports development has also been recognized for its role in youth engagement and community building.
