A segment of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has taken a decisive step by suspending former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The announcement was made on April 13th by the faction's state chairman, Raji Sulaiman Zumo, during a gathering with other executive members.
In addition to Abubakar, the faction also declared the suspension of Babachir Lawal, who previously held the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The party is currently experiencing internal strife, exacerbated by a dispute over the national chairmanship, with a faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe asserting its claim to the leadership.
This ongoing conflict has led to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) withdrawing recognition from the leadership of the ADC under former Senate President David Mark.
