An officer of the Nigerian Air Force has been taken into custody following the fatal shooting of a man during an altercation in NAF Harmony Estate on Eliozu Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

As reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. LCPL Oton Uba Eli, who is affiliated with the 115 Special Operations Group, confronted David Ebuka, a 28-year-old delivery rider, regarding suspected narcotics possession.

The situation escalated when Joseph Iche Johnson, believed to be Ebuka's superior, arrived and an argument ensued.

During the confrontation, the Air Force officer allegedly discharged his weapon, resulting in Johnson sustaining fatal injuries.

The victim was promptly transported to a military medical facility, where he was later declared dead.

His remains have since been sent to the mortuary at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for an autopsy.

Both the delivery rider and the Air Force personnel are currently in police custody as investigations are actively ongoing.

Authorities have announced that inquiries are being conducted to clarify the full details surrounding this tragic incident.
