The Kano State House of Assembly has decided to cease the impeachment proceedings it had commenced against the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo. This action was taken subsequent to Gwarzo's official resignation from his position.
During a plenary session chaired by Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, the Assembly acknowledged Gwarzo's resignation letter. His departure from office became effective on March 27, 2026, in accordance with the constitutional stipulations.
With Gwarzo no longer holding the office of Deputy Governor, the members of the Assembly resolved to discontinue the impeachment process, thereby concluding the legislative action.
The Majority Leader, Lawal Hussain Dala, addressed journalists after the session, stating that the Assembly had exercised its legislative functions. He further clarified that any further inquiries into the allegations previously made against the former deputy governor would now fall under the purview of anti-graft agencies.
