A suspected transformer vandal was electrocuted to death while allegedly trying to steal from a power transformer located in the Omifon community, within the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

As per reports from locals, the unidentified individual was tampering with the armored cable linked to the transformer when the unfortunate event took place.

A community member, who confirmed the occurrence to Hope Newspaper on Sunday, March 1, stated that the incident transpired last Wednesday.

Reports indicate that there was active electricity supply at the time.

"The suspect was electrocuted in the process, as the high-voltage current from the installation proved fatal. He died instantly," the source explained.

Officials from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) were notified and subsequently arrived at the scene to remove the body.
