The Amotekun Corps in Ekiti West Local Government has taken into custody five men who are suspected of being involved in armed banditry.
The operation was executed at approximately 11:30 AM on February 25, 2026.
Adeleye Adewale, the Communication Officer for Amotekun in Ekiti State, provided this information in a statement made on Thursday.
Local residents from Okemesi-Ekiti reported to the Amotekun office about a group of Hausa and Fulani men who were observed disembarking from a vehicle at a motor park located near the African Church along Itaawure Road.
The individuals arrested were identified as Abdulahi Makana, 28; Shuaba Ibrahim, 25; Adamu Muhammed, 25; Shlibu Umar, 31; and Aruna Yahaya, 28.
Upon receiving this intelligence, Amotekun operatives quickly deployed to the scene, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects.
During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered several items including two locally manufactured firearms, one axe, one dagger, two dogs, five mobile phones, and various charms.
While being interrogated, the suspects, who were led by an individual named Suleiman, claimed that they were farmers hailing from Kaduna and Jigawa states.
However, they reportedly could not provide any concrete evidence to back up their assertions.
The suspects, along with the seized items, have now been handed over to the Ekiti West Police Command for further inquiry and necessary actions to be taken.
