The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has emphasized the necessity for transparency and coordinated management in the lead-up to party congresses and the forthcoming national convention.

During a meeting with the APC leadership in Abuja, Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma made this appeal, presenting a communiqué thereafter.

Uzodimma asserted that all procedures should be governed by principles of transparency, accountability, and consistency to enhance trust and credibility within the party.

"These principles should be universally applied across all states, even those where the party does not currently have governors," he stated.

The PGF reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to maintaining party unity and fostering internal harmony. Uzodimma highlighted the need for responsible leadership, effective communication, and collective discipline as critical components for instilling public confidence in the party's democratic processes.

He reiterated the PGF’s resolve to deepen internal democracy, bolster party structures, and promote inclusive reforms while strengthening transparency and accountability at a national level.

Uzodimma indicated that the governors appreciated a briefing on the APC's national e-registration and digital membership update provided by the party's national chairman, noting that it had led to significant growth in youth involvement and the integration of the National Identity Number.

This initiative, according to Uzodimma, is expected to enhance data-driven policymaking, improve demographic insights, and strengthen grassroots engagement within communities.

Furthermore, he announced that the governors have endorsed the schedule and institutional framework set by the National Executive Committee (NEC) for the upcoming congresses and the national convention. He praised the leadership of the APC under National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda for steering this process effectively.

Uzodimma also confirmed plans for strategic meetings and state visits aimed at reinforcing grassroots structures and ensuring party cohesion.

He mentioned that visits would commence in Taraba on January 31, and formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau into the Forum. He expressed a desire to collaborate with APC leadership to foster national development, strengthen democratic principles, and promote governance that is centred on the people.

The governors expressed their gratitude for the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, affirming their commitment to partnering with him to facilitate effective governance at all levels.
