Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has inaugurated the National Central Coordinating Committee for the party’s upcoming National Convention, with Hon. Aminu Masari, a former governor of Katsina State, appointed as the chairman.
During the inauguration ceremony held in Abuja, Yilwatda stressed that the convention signifies more than just a gathering; it is a reaffirmation of democratic principles and a celebration of internal democracy, showcasing the APC as a well-organised and progressive political party.
Yilwatda commended Masari for his extensive experience, integrity, and profound knowledge in party management, stating that Masari's involvement illustrates his unwavering commitment to both the APC and the nation.
Addressing Masari directly, Yilwatda remarked, "Your acceptance of this role is a testament to your selfless dedication to the APC and Nigeria. We take pride in having you lead this committee and trust you will fulfill the responsibilities assigned to you by the party."
He highlighted that members of the committee were chosen for their demonstrated integrity, vast experience, and loyalty to the party's core values.
"You are tasked with planning and executing a convention that upholds transparency, inclusiveness, and credibility, suitable for a party of our stature," Yilwatda emphasized.
He urged the committee to put aside personal interests and focus on the collective good of the APC, reminding them that time is critical, and excellence is expected from all.
Yilwatda also reassured the committee that the National Working Committee, alongside the party infrastructure, stands ready to provide necessary support, resources, and goodwill to ensure the successful execution of this mandate.
In his acceptance speech, Masari expressed his commitment to the role and acknowledged the significance of the national convention as not just a requirement but a pivotal moment for reflection, unity, and recommitment to the party’s objectives.
"The mandate for this committee is straightforward: to coordinate all activities leading to a peaceful, credible, and triumphant national convention in 2026. We must engage in this task with maturity, fairness, and adherence to the party’s constitution and guidelines," he asserted.
Masari concluded by stating the objective to conduct a civil and free convention that strengthens and unites the party, thus reinforcing confidence in its internal operations. He pledged to collaborate closely with the National Working Committee and all relevant party organs.
