The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has firmly denied any connection to the reported assault on members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) that occurred in Ruwan Bago Ward of Rogo Local Government Area.
This denial comes after the NNPP accused individuals believed to be affiliated with the APC of attacking its supporters during a political event in the region. In a statement released on Sunday, the Kano State chapter of the APC labeled the allegations as without merit, suggesting they were part of the opposition's efforts to involve the APC in what they termed the internal turmoil of the NNPP.
The statement, issued by the party's publicity secretary, emphasized that the APC is dedicated to lawful political activities and remains committed to peaceful political engagement, asserting that it has never authorized any acts of violence against members of other political groups.
It expressed confusion over the NNPP's choice to blame the APC rather than address the escalating internal conflicts stemming from defections and political shifts occurring within their own party.
Despite rejecting the accusations, the APC advocated for a comprehensive and impartial inquiry into the incident by appropriate security authorities. The party urged that any individuals found responsible should be held accountable under the law, irrespective of their political affiliations.
