The Eboma family from Idumu-Oza Community, within Agbor Kingdom in Delta State's Ika South Local Government Area, are calling for accountability following the death of their daughter, Etunim Henrieta Ebere Sunday.

According to the family patriarch, Mr. Friday Eboma, speaking to Ika Newspaper, his daughter Etunim allegedly suffered prolonged domestic abuse at the hands of her husband, Mr. Ebere Sunday, an indigene of Alisimie, Agbor.

"Ebere Sunday beat Etunim to d3ath so he could marry another woman he claimed was pregnant for him," Eboma stated.

He further explained that it was only after her passing that they learned about the severe and frequent beatings she endured, which they believe led to her untimely demise.

The final alleged assault occurred on January 23, 2026. The children of the couple reported that their father reportedly confined their mother indoors and subjected her to beatings using a Lister generator belt. She reportedly lost consciousness and was subsequently admitted to the General Hospital in Agbor for medical attention.

Following this incident, their daughter experienced recurring health issues until she passed away on March 24, 2026.

"Ebere’s family members have approached us to plead, but we will not accept their entreaties. We have decided that he must come with his relatives to explain the circumstances that resulted in our daughter's d3ath."

Mr. Eboma recalled that Ebere Sunday, a carpenter, had persistently pursued Etunim for marriage after meeting her during the construction of the Idumu-Oza road.

"His children confirmed that their father frequently assaulted their mother, not only at home but also at her shop located on Imudia Street in Agbor."

The Eboma family has declared their firm stance that Ebere Sunday will be held responsible for his alleged role in their daughter's death.
