Armed Robbers Invade Katsina Journalist's Home, Inflict Injuries

Mustapha Saddiq, the publisher of Katsina Post, was attacked in his home by three masked assailants who gained entry by scaling his fence and breaking a padlock. The journalist sustained injuries from a sharp object during the struggle.

Suspected armed robbers launched an assault on the residence of Mustapha Saddiq, the publisher of Katsina Post, located in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, resulted in Mr. Saddiq sustaining injuries.

According to Sadiq Bindawa, the co-publisher of the online news outlet, the attack took place around 2 a.m. Three individuals, their faces concealed, reportedly scaled the property's fence and forced entry into the compound by breaking a padlock.

Mr. Bindawa informed PREMIUM TIMES that the attackers engaged Mr. Saddiq in a physical confrontation, inflicting wounds with a sharp instrument, believed to be a knife, dagger, or machete.

The injured journalist was subsequently transported to a government hospital in Katsina State, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

Mr. Saddiq's wife indicated that one of the intruders was armed with a firearm, though no shots were discharged during the raid. The assailants made off with Mr. Saddiq's mobile phone and his vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Abukur, within the Rimi Local Government Area of the state.

"The chairman of Rimi Local Government alerted us that the car had been found and recovered, and we are cooperating with the police on this matter," Mr. Bindawa stated.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the Batagarawa Police Division.

Attempts to obtain a statement from the Katsina State Police Command's spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached for comment at the time of this report.

No other members of Mr. Saddiq's household sustained injuries during the home invasion.
