Authorities in the Bahamas have arrested Brian Hooker, 59, in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, from a boat in the Abaco region. The arrest occurred on Wednesday evening in Marsh Harbour, days after Lynette allegedly fell from a small dinghy en route to their yacht near Elbow Cay.

Assistant Commissioner Advardo Dames of the Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed Hooker's detention, stating he was taken into custody as a suspect. Terrel Butler, representing Brian Hooker, issued a statement denying any wrongdoing and affirmed his client's cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

The U.S. Coast Guard has also initiated a criminal investigation into Lynette's vanishing. The search for Lynette has transitioned into a recovery mission, according to officials. Her mother, Darlene Hamlett, expressed a desire for answers from Brian, noting a lack of recent communication.

The situation escalated after Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, voiced suspicions regarding her mother's disappearance. Aylesworth stated she believes her mother and stepfather were involved in an incident, citing past allegations of choking and threats made by Brian Hooker. She also pointed out that Brian did not report her mother missing for approximately 24 hours.

Brian Hooker has previously denied these accusations. Initial police reports indicate that Lynette, 55, fell overboard into rough seas while transferring from the dinghy to their yacht, named 'Soulmate'. The fall allegedly caused her to lose the boat's keys, resulting in the engine shutting off. Brian reported reaching Marsh Harbour Boat Yard around 4 a.m. Sunday, after which an individual alerted the police.

Extensive search efforts, including marine, land, and aerial operations, have been conducted. Prior to his arrest, Brian Hooker posted on Facebook expressing heartbreak over the incident, attributing his wife's fall to unpredictable seas and high winds. He stated his primary focus remained on the search for Lynette. The couple, residents of Onsted, Michigan, had been married for over two decades.
