The government of Bauchi State has commenced the distribution of Ramadan palliatives to the 20 local government areas, religious groups, and selected organizations in 2026.
During the launch event, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, announced that the ministry has allocated 25,535 bags of rice, 25,539 bags of maize, 11,970 bags of millet, 16,751 bags of sorghum, and 5,000 bags of sugar for distribution.
These palliatives are intended to provide support during both Ramadan and Sallah festivities, having received approval from the state governor to help alleviate the hardships faced by the citizens. Wanka called on the local government chairmen to ensure that the distribution is handled fairly at the community level.
Representatives from Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and other beneficiary groups expressed their gratitude to the state government for this initiative and committed to endorsing the program.
