The Bayelsa State Police Command has taken action following the circulation of a viral video on social media that shows police officers from the command assaulting a tricycle driver.

In an official statement, DSP Musa Mohammed, the spokesperson for the command, revealed that the Commissioner of Police for Bayelsa State, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, strongly condemned the incident, labeling it as intolerable and in stark violation of professional policing standards. He emphasized that the command will not accept any form of human rights abuse, unprofessional behavior, or acts of brutality.

According to Mohammed, the officers implicated in the assault have been apprehended, and disciplinary measures have been initiated in accordance with the regulations set forth in the Police Act and other relevant statutes.
