Officers of the Borno State Police Command have been laid to rest following their demise during a confrontation with terrorists. The incident occurred when insurgents attacked a police facility located in the Nganzai Local Government Area of the state.
Reports confirm that two inspectors and two constables were fatally shot while bravely repelling the invasion by the terrorist group. The fallen officers were identified as Inspector Samuel Ezekiel from the Nganzai Division, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed attached to the 58 PMF Lafiya, Police Constable Bitrus Luka of the Crack Squad BRS, and Police Constable Shaibu Bukar, also from the Crack Squad BRS.
The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, stated that the interment ceremonies were held on Sunday at two separate burial grounds: the Kawar Maila Burial Ground and the Maximum Prison Burial Ground in Maiduguri.
Senior officials present at the burial included the Commissioner of Police for Borno State Command, Naziru Abdulmajid, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Jawi A. Mohammed, along with other members of the Command's leadership.
Funeral prayers and rites were led by the Command Chaplaincies, represented by CSP Bukar Gajibo (Imam) and CSP Theophilus Mutum (Chaplain), who offered prayers for the departed officers.
