The cause of Victoria Jones' death, the daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, has been determined as an 'accident' following revelations from a medical examiner indicating she succumbed to the 'toxic effects of cocaine'.
Jones, aged 34, was discovered at the Fairmont hotel in San Francisco on January 1, after experiencing what appeared to be a medical crisis.
Emergency dispatch audio, which was later reviewed by People, indicated that the incident was categorized as a 'Code 3' response, suggesting an overdose where the victim showed signs of significant color change.
Such a designation refers to instances where individuals who have overdosed may exhibit a bluish or purplish hue, known as cyanosis, indicating a lack of oxygen.
According to the San Francisco Fire Department, paramedics arrived at the hotel around 2:52 AM following a distress call. Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive person at the scene.
Despite attempts at resuscitation by emergency personnel and bystanders, Jones was declared deceased at the location.
Given the circumstances surrounding her death, the case was transferred to both the San Francisco Police Department and the Medical Examiner's office. Initial investigations suggested there was no foul play implicated in the unfortunate incident.
The Chief Medical Examiner's office in San Francisco confirmed on February 17 that Jones' death was due to 'toxic effects of cocaine,' affirming the determination of an accidental death.
In response to the tragic news of his daughter's passing, Academy Award- winning actor Tommy Lee Jones issued a statement through his agent expressing gratitude for the kind gestures and urged respect for the family's privacy during this challenging period.
Victoria was the child of Tommy Lee Jones and his former spouse, Kimberlea Cloughley. The couple also has a son, Austin Jones, who is 43 years old.
