The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), supported by Nyesom Wike, has officially dissolved the Ogun State executive of the party.

This announcement was made by the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, in a statement released on Friday.

"The National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to dissolve the Ogun State Executive Committee effective immediately," the statement read.

Mohammed expressed gratitude to the members of the dissolved committee for their contributions and service towards the party's growth in Ogun State.

Although the reason for this dissolution was not stated, it was mentioned that a Caretaker Committee would soon be appointed to manage the party's affairs in the state.

In response to this development, the former Ogun State executive expressed strong opposition, referring to the decision as a mere fabrication by certain individuals.

Abayomi Tella, the state chairman, stated in a release provided to journalists in Abeokuta that, "The party lacks the necessary constitutional authority to issue such nonsensical announcements."

Tella continued, "We assert that news of the supposed dissolution of the Ogun State Executive Committee is yet again an unfortunate attempt by some individuals to create discord within the PDP family in Ogun State."

He further emphasized, "This purported dissolution only exists in the imaginations of certain individuals. The originator of this news does not possess the necessary constitutional backing to make such absurd claims."

The chairman reiterated that the current Ogun State PDP Executive, led by Hon. Dr. Abayomi Tella, which was duly elected and inaugurated on September 24, 2024, remains the only legitimate body of the party recognized and endorsed by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Tella urged all members, supporters, and the public to disregard any attempts to divert the party's focus from enhancing its acceptance in Ogun State.

He added that the party's progress in the state would not be hindered, insisting that any deliberate actions by provocateurs or dissident groups aimed at sowing discord within the party would be firmly resisted through lawful means.
