A Magistrates’ Court in Abuja issued a ruling on Tuesday imposing a one-month cleaning sentence on Musa Ibrahim, a businessman, following his theft of electrical cables from the Amir Mosque located in Wuse II.

Magistrate Lami Sani pronounced the sentence after Ibrahim confessed to charges of theft and mischief. As part of the proceedings, Ibrahim appealed for leniency and expressed remorse, assuring the court that he would not engage in such behavior again.

Prosecutor A.A. Adeleju informed the court that on March 5, Ibrahim entered the mosque claiming he was there to collect Ramadan food. During the congregation, while others waited in line for the meals, he exploited a back entrance to abscond with the mosque's electric cables.

The prosecution further detailed that during the investigative process, the defendant admitted to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen cables, which were appraised at a value of N2 million.
