Dangote Group has reiterated its dedication to expanding industrial operations and supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which are seen as vital contributors to Nigeria's economic advancement.

Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of the group, shared this commitment during the company's Special Day at the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair on Wednesday, focusing on the theme "Empowering MSMEs for Global Competitiveness."

Jinadu Olatunbosun, the South East Regional Director of Dangote Cement Plc, represented Dangote at the event. He explained that the group’s long-term strategy, dubbed "Vision 2030," is aimed at overcoming key challenges facing MSMEs, notably the high costs associated with energy, raw materials, and infrastructure.

He pointed out that this year’s fair theme underscores the essential role of small enterprises in both local and global markets, emphasizing the necessity of fostering a supportive environment for their development.

Jinadu revealed plans to increase the refinery’s capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day, which is expected to enhance production levels and operational efficiency.

Additionally, he mentioned that the firm is boosting its fertiliser production capabilities to 12 million metric tonnes annually, while also expanding its polypropylene manufacturing plant to satisfy the growing demand in sectors like packaging, textiles, automotive, healthcare, and construction.

Jinadu further highlighted that these expansions reflect the group’s belief in the importance of local manufacturing and achieving industrial self- sufficiency as a cornerstone for Nigeria's economic evolution.

Earlier during the fair, Nnayelugo Onyemelukwe, the President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), praised Dangote for its sustained sponsorship of the event over the past five years and encouraged the group to consider establishing its plants in the Southeast to contribute to the economic growth of this region.
