A new recruit in the Nigerian Army, Ibrahim Nazifi from Gombe State, has lost his life during his training at the Nigerian Army Depot located in Zaria.

Nazifi was part of the initial group of successful candidates from Gombe State who were under training through the Nigerian Army Regular Recruit Intake (NA RRI 90).

The Gombe State Government verified the death of the recruit in a statement released by Ambassador Yusuf Danbayo, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters and Intergovernmental Affairs, on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

As outlined in the statement, Nazifi died following a short illness while at the training facility.

Danbayo noted that the deceased hailed from Buba Bani Village in the Kashere Ward of Akko Local Government Area with application number 90RRI-GO-9017726.

In his statement, Danbayo expressed profound sorrow, humility, and a complete submission to the will of the Almighty Allah regarding the passing of Ibrahim Nazifi, describing him as one of the promising recruits training at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria.

He characterized Nazifi as a dedicated young individual who had chosen to serve his nation, stating that the loss is deeply mourned by his family, the Gombe State Government, the residents of Akko Local Government Area, and the state as a whole.

“This heart-wrenching loss is felt not just by his family but by all the citizens of Gombe State and well-wishers,” he added.

Danbayo conveyed the condolences of the state government to the grieving family, friends, relatives, and colleagues of the deceased, offering prayers for divine mercy over his soul.

“We ask that the Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his intentions and endeavors as acts of devotion, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus,” Danbayo stated.
