Security forces have taken into custody two individuals believed to be providing support to terrorist groups along the Nigeria-Niger border in Borno State. The arrests occurred during a routine patrol conducted by troops from the 5 Brigade stationed at Forward Operating Base Walada.

The operation on April 3, 2026, at approximately 03:16 AM led to the interception of the suspects as they attempted to cross from the Kainuwa area. These individuals were identified as Bafanami Mallam and Bakolo Bako.

Upon their apprehension, a sum of N159,500 in cash was recovered, along with a Tecno Android mobile phone, a PalmPay debit card, a National Identification Number (NIN) card, and identity cards for the Civilian Joint Task Force and the Lake Chad Fishermen Association.

The arrested individuals are now undergoing preliminary investigations to ascertain their role within the suspected terrorist logistics and information networks. Their detention is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle support systems for extremist activities in the region.
