Operatives from the Delta State Police Command have detained two individuals suspected of armed robbery and have seized firearms in distinct operations conducted across the state.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Oghenemaro Festus and Prince Omanure. Festus was captured in the Ekredjebor region of Ughelli, while Omanure was taken into custody in the Ghana area of Sapele.
According to Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the police command, Festus is believed to be connected to a series of house-to-house robberies. During his arrest, law enforcement recovered a pump-action shotgun, which was loaded with two live cartridges.
In a separate action, Prince Omanure was arrested following numerous complaints from residents in Sapele concerning a motorcycle-riding group involved in numerous robberies.
Based on this information, police conducted a focused operation in the Ghana area of Sapele, which ultimately led to his arrest.
Edafe further disclosed that Omanure guided the police to a bush area along the Warri-Sapele Road, where they recovered a modified Beretta pistol equipped with eight rounds of live ammunition.
The police stated that investigations are currently underway to identify and capture other members of the robbery syndicate who have evaded arrest.
