Following the recent outbreak of violence in Plateau State, which led to fatalities and the subsequent closure of the University of Jos, the Delta State Government has taken steps to ensure the safety of its students. A total of 34 students from Delta State studying at the university have been safely evacuated.

Upon their arrival, the students were received by the State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode. He stated that the evacuation was deemed necessary because the university administration had to shut down academic activities in response to the security challenges.

Chief Onoriode expressed his profound relief that all the evacuated students returned home without harm, attributing the successful operation to a swift and well-coordinated government response.

"We are confident that peace will eventually return to the region. When the time is right for you to resume your studies, you will do so and complete your academic programs successfully," he assured the students.

He reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Delta State Government to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens, particularly students studying across the nation. He urged the students to maintain their focus on their education and to remain law-abiding.

Comrade Newton Miracle, who serves as the Vice President of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) at the University of Jos chapter, conveyed his gratitude. He extended his appreciation to the Delta State Government and all other parties involved in facilitating the safe evacuation of the students.
