Asiya Ahmed El-Rufai, one of the wives of the former governor of Kaduna State, was refused entry through the primary gate of the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday, where the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) was prosecuting her husband.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday morning when officials from the ICPC brought the former governor into the courtroom around 9 a.m.
Asiya arrived at the court wearing an ash-colored veil and appeared quite distressed upon finding the main gate locked during her attempt to enter.
She appealed to a masked official from the Department of State Services (DSS) stationed at the gate, requesting permission to enter, but her request was denied.
"I’m Mrs El-Rufai. Who should I contact to let me in?" she inquired, but the DSS officer remained silent.
She further commented, "What is occurring here today will eventually pass."
Eventually, she was instructed to utilize a secondary entrance to access the courtroom, which she did.
Not long after, Khadija Ahmed El-Rufai, the first wife of the former governor, also faced restrictions at the front gate and was similarly directed by security personnel to the back entrance.
Khadija, clad in a black abaya and scarf, maintained her composure as she navigated the premises to find her way into the courtroom.
