Edo Police Capture Four Alleged Cult Members, Seize Firearms

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of cult activities and confiscated firearms. The operation took place in Uromi and led to significant discoveries, including English pump-action guns and cartridges.

The police in Edo State have detained four individuals believed to be involved in cult activities, along with the recovery of four English pump-action firearms, nine live cartridges, and three spent cartridges.

According to a statement made by the command's spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, on March 25, 2026, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are affiliated with the Eiye Confraternity.

"The Edo State Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to eradicate cultism and related violent crimes, with the apprehension of four suspected cultists along with the seizure of firearms in Uromi," the statement noted.

The operation, which occurred around 0200 hours on March 24, 2026, was executed based on credible intelligence. The arrested suspects have been identified as Solomon Oboigbe, 27, from Ewoyi Quarters; Fidelis Omale, 26, residing in Atani; Julius Oseyomon, 64, also from Atani; and Abraham Erumosele Momo, 54, hailing from Eco Obedo, all of whom are residents of Uromi.

During the operation, four English pump-action guns were confiscated from the accused, in addition to nine live rounds and three spent cartridges.

Investigations reveal that the suspects are believed to be members of the Eiye Confraternity and that the seized firearms were acquired unlawfully.

The Commissioner of Police for Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and quick actions, reiterating the command's commitment to continuing its crackdown on cultism and other criminal activities while ensuring firearms are removed from circulation across the state.

Following thorough investigations, the suspects have been brought before the court for prosecution.

The police command calls on the public to continue sharing reliable information with them, assuring that all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.

"The Edo State Police Command remains dedicated to safeguarding the security and well-being of all residents," it added.
