Edo Police Nab Four Suspected Armed Robbers and Seize Two AK-47 Rifles

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended four individuals believed to be involved in armed robbery, recovering two AK-47 rifles in the process. The suspects are reportedly part of a gang that has been causing unrest in local communities.

In a recent operation, agents from the Edo State Police Command successfully arrested four suspected armed robbers and confiscated two AK-47 rifles.

The individuals taken into custody are Jabir Saleh, Musa Lawal (also known as Gambo), Gaddafi Iliyasu, and Salau Haliru, who are reportedly associated with a robbery syndicate that has been wreaking havoc in the Uselu N’ahor neighborhoods within the Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State.

Eno Ikoedem, the spokesperson for the police command, indicated that the arrests were made possible through an advanced, intelligence-led surveillance initiative.

Following complaints about their illicit activities, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, deployed tactical units to the affected areas to enhance security and eliminate criminal elements.

Ikoedem explained that the police combed through the entire community, meticulously inspecting identified hotspots and hideouts, which resulted in the apprehension of the four suspects.

During this operation, two AK-47 rifles along with two magazines containing 33 rounds of live ammunition were seized.

The spokesperson added that investigations are currently ongoing, and the suspects will face trial once the investigation is completed.
