A teacher based in Cameroon, Faustin Abega, has been immediately dismissed from his position due to outrage sparked by his statements regarding the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl. The victim, identified as Mbarga Divine, was reportedly attacked and killed by a married father of three, who is also the parent of one of her classmates.
The uproar began when Faustin made a comment online that many perceived to undermine the horrific circumstances surrounding the girl's death, leading to significant backlash on social media across Cameroon.
In a response to the incident, he remarked, "Get out, what was she first of all, looking for at their house. The man enjoyed the opportunity." His remarks were met with public anger, with a growing number of individuals demanding accountability and action against him.
Following the incident, the institution where Abega was employed issued a formal notice of dismissal, indicating that his behavior constituted gross misconduct and was not aligned with the professional ethics expected from educators.
The school administration stressed the importance of teachers exhibiting appropriate behavior both inside and outside the classroom, explaining that Abega's comments contradicted the institution's core values.
In the aftermath of the public outcry, Abega claimed that his Facebook account had been compromised, denying responsibility for his controversial post. However, the school communicated that this explanation did not adequately address the severity of the issue.
In light of the situation, the school's management has reassured parents that steps are being taken to uphold the safety and moral welfare of the students. Additionally, there are indications that an internal investigation may be initiated to delve deeper into the matter.
