urged the people of Jigawa State to stand together and support each other, reaffirming his government's commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector and fostering economic growth within the state.
Governor Namadi shared these sentiments after receiving a visit from the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness Alhaji Haneem Muhammad Sanusi, during the Hawan Bariki Durbar homage, part of the Eid-el-Fitr festivities at the Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Durbar ground in Dutse.
The Governor regarded the Emir's visit and those of other traditional leaders as significant for reflection and gratitude, emphasizing the need to recognize collective efforts aimed at promoting peace, development, and mutual support across the state.
Expressing gratitude for the goodwill shown by traditional institutions, especially in acknowledging various development initiatives underway across different emirates, he stated that such recognition is encouraging.
He also thanked the citizens of Jigawa State for their ongoing support towards both state and federal administrations, noting that this cooperation is essential for maintaining progress.
"We remain focused on executing development projects that cater to our community, particularly the underprivileged. Our priority is the welfare of the less fortunate in Jigawa State," he remarked.
Addressing the challenges faced by farmers, Governor Namadi acknowledged their struggles and losses in recent times but assured them that both the Federal Government and the state government are aware of their challenges and are committed to providing necessary assistance.
"Agriculture is the primary investment for our people. We recognize that while many engage in farming, they have endured losses and have not derived profits. I want to assure our people that this situation is temporary. The government is contemplating measures to enable farmers to gain from their labor," he said.
He elaborated on the preparations to support farmers in anticipation of the forthcoming dry season farming, aiming to help them return to their farms with renewed confidence and boost their productivity.
"With God's blessing, we will be implementing support plans for farmers this farming season. I encourage patience as we transition into the season; with God's grace, assistance will be provided to empower farmers," he added.
The Governor emphasized the critical importance of farming, warning that failing to farm would lead to food shortages, escalating prices, and significant hardship for the populace.
He also expressed awareness of the challenges farmers face, including the rising costs of fertilizers and other inputs, promising that relief measures will eventually be introduced to support their endeavors.
In light of the noticeable increase in petroleum prices, Governor Namadi highlighted that the Federal Government is making concerted efforts to ease the burdens on the citizens, including steps to mitigate transportation costs through alternative approaches.
"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed that I inform you all of the rise in fuel prices due to ongoing crises in the Middle East. While this may impose challenges on our community, the president has assured that steps will be taken to lighten this load," he noted.
He affirmed that the state government will complement these efforts, particularly by assisting farmers and ensuring that the resultant pressures on the populace are minimized.
Further, the Governor took the occasion to encourage active participation in the ongoing voter registration campaign, underscoring the significance of voter cards as a crucial means of engaging in the democratic process.
"I urge everyone to ensure they register to vote. Those who have not registered should do so. Furthermore, those with damaged cards or who have changed residences must update their information accordingly.
"Your voter card is your power. If you possess a voter card and feel neglected by my administration, you have the right to voice your concerns at the ballot. Likewise, any elected official who fails to meet your needs can be replaced by your vote," he stated.
