The Emir of Kano, Mohammadu Sanusi, on Friday emphasized the importance of maintaining the spiritual teachings of Ramadan by demonstrating kindness to those in need and fostering peace within society.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Sanusi II made this appeal while delivering his sermon after leading a large congregation in the Eid-el- Fitr prayers at the Kofar Mata Eid Ground in Kano.
The Emir highlighted that the significance of Ramadan extends beyond mere fasting and urged the Muslim community to cultivate values such as generosity, patience, and self-control.
He encouraged the faithful to show kindness and support to the needy, especially orphans and other vulnerable groups, as a means to reinforce social connections.
Sanusi also called for intensified prayers for coexistence and harmony within Kano State and across Nigeria, stressing that unity is vital for fostering national progress.
Furthermore, he extended his prayers for worldwide peace and stability. Looking ahead, Sanusi expressed hope for a productive rainy season, believing it will yield abundant harvests and enhance the lives of farmers.
He urged parents and guardians to take a more active role in guiding their children, emphasizing that a proper upbringing is crucial for cultivating a morally responsible and upright society.
NAN reported that the event was attended by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, and various senior officials.
