The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has labeled the alleged State Congress that was reportedly held at NTS in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, as illegal, unnecessary, and devoid of any merit.
In a statement issued by the state secretary, Mr. Kole Olododo, it was stated that the congress did not receive the required endorsement and authorization from the party's National Executive Committee, rendering it invalid.
The party has urged all its officers at the Local Government and Ward levels, as well as the general membership and the public, to disregard and overlook the suspension congress led by Fayose in Ekiti State, highlighting that it has no constitutional validity.
Additionally, the PDP asserted that no member, irrespective of their previous position or status within the party, possesses the authority to disband or replace properly constituted Ward, Local Government, or State Executives before the completion of their terms.
The party also emphasized that the Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses in Ekiti State were appropriately conducted before the issues of suspension and factional disputes arose within the National Executive body of the party.
