A video circulating online features an elderly mother lamenting the lack of support for her son, a soldier in the Nigerian Army, as well as his fellow troops battling insurgents.

In this emotional clip, the woman reveals that she is a widow of a soldier who dedicated 36 years to the Nigerian military.

The mother shares that her son frequently calls her to articulate the difficult conditions in which he and other soldiers are deployed. She has urged him to return home if the situation becomes unbearable.

An elderly mother pleads for better treatment of Nigerian soldiers in an emotional video.

Overwhelmed with frustration, she directed her anger towards the Nigerian government, pleading for divine retribution for the suffering inflicted upon her son and other soldiers.

In her poignant words:

“Leaders of Nigeria, our children are in the bush. I’ve told my son that if he cannot go on, he should return home; God will provide for us. My husband served for 36 years without facing such challenges, yet our young soldiers are enduring unimaginable hardship. You are profiting off our children’s sacrifices. Nigerian leaders, may it never be well for you! I implore you to take action for our children in the bush. As an elderly soldier’s wife, I beg you not to let our children perish. They are suffering out there!”

Desperate for change, she concluded by invoking a call for vengeance: “O God of justice, please bring your vengeance upon those who deal with our children unjustly! Help us!”
