A woman was arrested after she threw a 25-pound weight at another gym member whom she perceived as a romantic competitor, as reported by law enforcement.

Aralyn Martinez, 24, reportedly identified the other individual as someone her boyfriend was allegedly involved with while at a 24 Hour Fitness facility located just outside of Houston last week. According to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office, she “threw a weighted plate toward the complainant’s head, attempting to cause injury.”

Before the incident that occurred on January 7, Martinez is said to have yelled, “Bi**h I’m going to drop this 25-pound weight plate on you,” at Cindy Aguilar, as detailed in charging documents retrieved by the Daily Mail.

Officers were dispatched to the gym, and Martinez was arrested the next day.

She was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with aggravated assault using a deadly weapon. The presiding judge noted in a ruling regarding bond conditions that evidence suggests alcohol may have influenced her actions, according to Law & Crime.

Her bond was established at $1,000, which she managed to post the day following her arrest.

Upon her release, the judge imposed restrictions, barring Martinez from consuming any alcoholic products, including those found in food, mouthwash, or over-the-counter medications. Additionally, she is prohibited from using marijuana, owning any weapons, or contacting the victim.

Moreover, she is required to maintain a distance of 200 feet from the 24 Hour Fitness gym where the incident transpired, situated in Spring, a designated census area within the Houston metropolitan region.
