Although West Ham managed to threaten a comeback in the second half, coach Arne Slot's team successfully fended them off.

All five goals for Liverpool came from different players, starting with Hugo Ekitike, who opened the scoring with a shot into the near post, marking his 16th goal of the season. Captain Virgil van Dijk extended the lead in the 24th minute with a header from a corner taken by Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister's deflected volley just before halftime secured a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Early in the second half, Tomas Soucek reduced the deficit, but further goals from Cody Gakpo and an own goal by Axel Disasi ensured Liverpool cruised to victory, achieving five goals in a match for the first time this season.

This victory propelled the champions to fifth place in the standings, equal on points with Manchester United, who have a game in hand. Meanwhile, West Ham remains in the 18th position with only 25 points from 28 fixtures.

In another exciting match, Burnley came back from three goals down against Brentford but eventually lost 4-3 with Brentford scoring a late goal. Additionally, Newcastle United fell at home to Everton with a 3-2 defeat.
