The Chairman of the Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, has issued a suspension order for the village head of Kache in Gurdi Ward, HRH Alhaji Ismaila Adagi, due to allegations surrounding a land dispute in the locality.

The directive of the suspension was relayed in a letter dated January 30, 2026, from the council’s secretary, Audu Agaba. This letter was obtained by Abuja Metro.

A copy of the correspondence has also been sent to significant figures including the Etsu of Yaba, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Ndatsusu, the Secretary of the Yaba Development Area, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the District Head of Gulida, and the village heads from both Gulida and Gurdi communities.

The Council Chairman explained that the suspension was necessitated by a petition regarding a land conflict located along the boundary separating the FCT from Niger State.

The letter specified, "I am directed to notify you of your suspension as the Chief of Kache community in Gurdi Ward of Abaji Area Council, Abuja, following a petition concerning your involvement in a land issue on the boundary between the FCT and Niger State. Your actions have stirred tensions; as a consequence, your immediate suspension is essential to facilitate urgent resolution measures.

"Consequently, you are required to abstain from performing any official duties or participating in community decisions related to the FCT Administration until further notice. This will aid the resolution process and ensure that community interests are prioritized. Accept our esteemed regards."

In a reaction shared via telephone on Wednesday night, the suspended village head denied any association with a land conflict involving the FCT and Niger State, though he chose not to elaborate further.

"All I can affirm is that the claim suggesting my involvement in a land dispute with Niger State is false. That is all I am able to state for now," he declared.
