The Federal Government has announced plans to organise a National Economic Council (NEC) Conference commencing on Monday, aimed at enhancing economic synergy and promoting widespread growth across Nigeria.
A statement released on Sunday by Stanley Nkwocha, the Media Aide to the Vice President, indicated that the conference will bring together the governors from all 36 states alongside other significant national figures.
The two-day assembly is slated to take place on February 9th and 10th, 2026, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, is serving as the convener.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who leads the National Economic Council, is scheduled to preside over the proceedings.
Under the theme "Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan," the conference is expected to offer policy guidance to state governments as they integrate their plans with the Federal Government's long-term economic vision.
Dr. Deborah Oko Odo, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and Secretary of NEC, highlighted the conference's focus on critical macroeconomic objectives.
"The conference will concentrate on national economic matters designed to stimulate economic advancement and development throughout the nation," she stated.
Discussions during the summit are anticipated to cover areas such as fiscal cooperation, attracting investments, and developing joint strategies for development between the federal and state administrations.
President Bola Tinubu is slated to attend as the Special Guest of Honour. Senior government officials, international development partners, and prominent figures from the private sector are also expected to participate, contributing to the ongoing efforts to strengthen reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
