FG Confirms Acceptance of 10 Ambassador Designates by Various Countries, Others Awaiting Approval

The Nigerian government announces that ten of President Bola Tinubu's ambassadorial appointees have received acceptance from foreign nations, while others are still in the approval process. Key countries involved include the UK, France, and the US.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed that ten of the ambassador designates appointed by President Bola Tinubu have been accepted by their respective host countries.

The countries that have accepted these ambassadorial appointments are the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Ireland, Qatar, the Republic of Benin, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.

Kimiebi Ebienfa, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provided this information, indicating that the process to secure approvals from additional countries is still ongoing.

“I wish to inform you that the process of receiving agreements from the countries to which the ambassadors designate are posted is ongoing,” Ebienfa noted.

So far, agreements have been confirmed from nations including the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Ireland, Qatar, Benin, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal, Sierra Leone, among others.

In addition, Ebienfa revealed that 19 officers in the Nigerian Foreign Service have been promoted to Ambassadors-in-Situ, representing a significant development in their professional careers.

An announcement regarding the date for the induction ceremony is expected once it has been finalized and approved by the presidency.

On behalf of the newly invested ambassadors, Ambassador Suleiman Ousman expressed thanks to the Federal Government, assuring that they would uphold integrity, professionalism, and a dedication to advancing national interests.

The investiture was led by former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and witnessed by various senior government officials and public representatives.
