Four Alleged Phone Thieves Arrested by Kano NSCDC for Attacking Residents

Operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have taken into custody four individuals suspected of being involved in phone thefts in the Dorayi Babba locality of Gwale Local Government Area.

The suspects were apprehended following complaints regarding disturbances in the area, where a gang was reportedly assaulting residents and stealing their belongings.

According to information released on Friday by the command's spokesperson, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the arrests were made after NSCDC officials confronted the suspects during an operation in Dorayi Babba.

Abdullahi noted that these suspects had been specifically targeting individuals attending Taraweeh prayers, using dangerous weapons to rob them of their mobile phones and other valuables.

"The operatives of the outpost engaged the hoodlums and dispersed them while they were attacking innocent citizens with dangerous weapons and dispossessing them of their belongings, especially during Taraweeh prayers in the area,” the statement detailed.

The individuals identified in the arrests are Yusuf Auwal, 18; Abubakar Abdullahi, 21; Huzaifa Isma’il Aliyu, 27; and Yushau Abubakar, 17. All of them are residents of Dorayi Babba in Gwale Local Government Area.

Recovered items from the suspects include a knife and two packages suspected to contain marijuana.

Abdullahi further informed that inquiries into the incidents have concluded, and the detained individuals will soon face charges in court. He reiterated the command's dedication to ensuring the security of residents and advised the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security forces.
