The Ekiti State Police Command has charged four individuals in a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti for alleged conspiracy and theft.
The accused are identified as Ayomide Pelumi, aged 18, Salihu Ibrahim, 19, Garba Musa, 27, and Isah Shaibu, 22.
During the court proceedings, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecutor, informed the court that Pelumi and Ibrahim were accused of stealing registration machines belonging to MTN. The estimated worth of the stolen equipment is N12 million, and the incident reportedly occurred on January 22 at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Inspector Oriyomi further claimed that Musa and Shaibu allegedly conspired to receive the stolen machines unlawfully from Pelumi and Ibrahim at around 9:30 p.m. on the same day.
The prosecutor cited that these actions violated Sections 421, 302(1)(a), and 343 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defense attorney, Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, requested the court to grant bail for the defendants, guaranteeing that they would adhere to the bail conditions.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun approved bail for each defendant at N500,000, requiring two sureties in a similar amount.
The case has been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled for March 2.
