In Ekiti State, the police have brought charges against four individuals before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly conspiring to commit theft.
The individuals facing charges are Idris Abdullah (35), Salisu Abdullah (25), Umaru Laulo Siddi (26), and Yahuza Abdulrahman (20).
During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi stated that on March 3, 2025, at approximately 10:00 pm in Oke-Ako-Ekiti, located within the Ikole-Ekiti region, the accused, along with others who remain unidentified, allegedly stole 25 cows belonging to Mrs. Rachael Fuluso Adebayo, with an estimated value of N10,000,000.
Moreover, Inspector Oriyomi accused the defendants of being unlawfully armed with dangerous weapons in a public space on January 20, 2026, around 4:00 pm in Ikole-Ekiti, with the intention of instilling fear among the public.
Additionally, they were charged with illegally grazing cattle on lands that did not belong to them.
The defendants' attorney, Barrister Adunni Olanipekun, requested bail for her clients, assuring the magistrate that they would comply with the terms and not evade court proceedings.
Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, the Chief Magistrate, granted bail to each defendant in the amount of N100,000, contingent upon the provision of one surety in a similar monetary value.
The proceedings have been adjourned to February 10, 2026, for further hearings.
