Global leaders are concentrating on fostering sustainable development across Africa through enhanced collaborations, creative funding approaches, and decisive leadership.

The 2026 Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS), themed “Financing for Development: Building Resilience and Transforming Emerging Economies,” will serve as the venue for this convergence.

Scheduled for July 22–23, 2026, in Nigeria, the summit will bring together key figures to galvanize the capital and partnerships necessary to advance Africa’s sustainable development objectives.

Mohamed Malick Fall, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, highlighted the critical role of joint efforts in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. He stated, “The Africa Social Impact Summit offers a vital platform for uniting governments, the private sector, and development partners to expedite progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. By mobilizing capital, innovation, and partnerships, platforms like ASIS are instrumental in unlocking the transformative solutions Africa requires for inclusive and sustainable growth.”

Abubakar Suleiman, a Board Member of Sterling One Foundation and the Managing Director of Sterling Bank, emphasized that cross-sectoral collaboration is crucial for realizing the continent’s full potential. He remarked, “Africa’s development challenges are intricate, yet they also present significant opportunities for innovation and collaboration. Summits like the Africa Social Impact Summit are essential for bringing together leaders from government, business, and philanthropy to uncover the ideas, capital, and partnerships needed to accelerate sustainable development throughout the continent.”

Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, lauded the organizers, underscoring the importance of partnerships in unlocking the nation’s capabilities. He commented, “Nigeria welcomes initiatives such as the Africa Social Impact Summit that unite global capital, innovation, and policy discussions. Strengthening cooperation among government, investors, and development partners is paramount for accelerating economic growth, enhancing livelihoods, and promoting sustainable development across the continent.”

Olapeju Ibekwe, CEO of Sterling One Foundation, explained that the summit is designed to create a dynamic environment where leaders from various sectors can transition from discussion to achieving tangible outcomes that support Africa’s development priorities.

“The Africa Social Impact Summit was established to gather the most forward- thinking individuals, investors, and development leaders dedicated to shaping Africa’s future.

“By assembling leaders from diverse sectors, the summit provides a potent platform for securing the partnerships and capital essential for scaling up solutions in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, food systems, and youth development,” she added.
