The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has solidified its political standing with the entire Gombe State House of Assembly now under its control. This development follows the recent defection of the final opposition lawmaker in the assembly, Hon. Yakubu Daniel, who represented the Billiri East Constituency and was previously affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Daniel, commonly known as Shetiman Bare, has officially joined the APC, effectively eliminating any opposition presence within the state legislative body. This transition is part of a continuing trend, as several other opposition members, including those who previously held minority leadership positions, had already switched to the ruling party.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State welcomed the lawmaker, highlighting the defection as a testament to his administration's leadership and the APC's governance approach at both state and national levels. He extended assurances of equitable treatment, inclusion, and consistent opportunities within the APC to Hon. Daniel.
Governor Yahaya further stated that the APC's expanding influence across all electoral districts in the state signifies the growing trust the populace places in his administration's policies and programs, in addition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 'Renewed Hope Agenda.'
In his address, Hon. Daniel explained that his decision to align with the APC was primarily driven by Governor Inuwa Yahaya's leadership style, which he characterized as transparent, accountable, and effective. He pledged his commitment to the party and expressed his readiness to contribute to its ongoing growth and success in his constituency and throughout Gombe State.
The Speaker and other members of the State House of Assembly were present when the lawmaker formally joined the APC at the Government House.
