Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, who represents Gombe Central in the Senate, has initiated the distribution of 65 trucks of fertilizers, amounting to 39,370 bags, to his constituents within the senatorial district.

During the flag-off event held in Gombe, Senator Goje, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), stated that this effort aims to boost agricultural production and enhance food security in the region.

He noted that this support is particularly crucial for farmers as they navigate the challenges posed by increasing production costs during the wet season.

Represented by his aide, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, Goje mentioned that a total of 23 beneficiaries were chosen from each of the 869 polling units in Akko and Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Areas, irrespective of their political affiliations.

Furthermore, he highlighted that various stakeholders, including community leaders, religious leaders, elders, women, youth groups, and farmers from the 22 political wards were included in the distribution plan.

According to Senator Goje, the acquisition of the 39,370 bags of fertilizer is intended to alleviate the economic pressures that farmers have faced, especially following the difficulties experienced during the last farming season.

"A total of 65 trucks carrying 39,370 bags of fertilizers were acquired for complimentary distribution to our constituents. This initiative is designed to assist them during this wet season, especially in light of the soaring prices of essential goods," he expressed.

Adamu further emphasized that this distribution illustrates Senator Goje's commitment to empowering his constituents economically and fostering self- sufficiency in food production. He reassured that the fertilizers are being provided free of charge and without any regard for political divisions.

Additionally, the early distribution is meant to facilitate timely access to the materials needed for farming, thereby enhancing agricultural output before the rains peak in Gombe Central.
