Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has rejected accusations made by a prophet concerning alleged plans to impeach his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
The claims were brought to light by prophet Olumuyiwa Akogun, the leader of God Central Ministry in Ekiti State. In a viral video that has circulated widely online, Akogun expressed worries about a potential political crisis brewing in Ondo involving Aiyedatiwa and Adelami.
In the video, the prophet asserted that he had a revelation of a political crisis within the Ondo State Government. He mentioned a disturbing vision that seemed to depict a “breaking news” scenario reporting the impeachment of the deputy governor.
He narrated that in his vision, both the governor and his deputy were depicted standing together, holding a flag, when a sudden storm disrupted their unity.
Akogun stated, “I witnessed a breaking news report showing the deputy governor being impeached. The Lord informed me that actions would be taken, leading to chaos between the governor and his deputy, which would cause serious issues.”
Responding to these claims, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged people not to take the prophet’s predictions seriously. During the unveiling of the newly completed Ayegunle-Iwaro Oka road on Friday, coinciding with his first year in office, he labeled the prophet's assertions as trivial distractions and affirmed that his deputy had done nothing warranting dismissal.
He described Olayide Adelami as a dependable deputy and reiterated that there is no intention of removing him from office.
The governor also commissioned the Isuada-Iselu road in the Owo Local Government Area as part of the anniversary events. Although there have been reports of tensions related to the ongoing ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress, which led to two fatalities, there appears to be no visible discord between Aiyedatiwa and Adelami.
Nevertheless, speculation around who might succeed Aiyedatiwa has been gaining traction in the state recently.
