The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has reiterated his dedication to unity and progress within the All Progressives Congress (APC), voicing confidence in President Bola Tinubu's ability to lead ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
This statement came during his recent courtesy visit to the APC National Secretariat, where he was formally welcomed into the ruling party.
Governor Fintiri’s visit came on the heels of his defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on February 27. He noted that his decision was made in the best interest of his state after extensive consultations with residents and stakeholders, who overwhelmingly backed the move.
During the visit, the governor covered various political and economic progressions in the nation. He recognized that President Tinubu’s microeconomic reforms had faced initial challenges due to their extensive implications but pointed out that positive results are now becoming apparent.
“There's light at the end of the tunnel,” stated Fintiri, highlighting that the Renewed Hope Agenda is starting to gain traction in significant sectors of the economy. He also emphasized his belief in the unity and strength of the APC, expressing optimism about the party's future in the upcoming elections.
Welcoming Fintiri, the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, regarded the governor’s shift as a substantial enhancement of the party's influence. He commended Fintiri's governance record, underscoring his commitment to coordination and meaningful development initiatives in Adamawa State that resonate with the APC's progressive vision.
“We welcome him back to where he belongs. He embodies a progressive mindset, and the APC is the natural home for leaders dedicated to reform and national renewal,” Yilwatda remarked.
Regarding the role of the opposition, he stated that it was not the APC's duty to bolster or organize opposition entities. “Democracy is competitive; our focus is on effective governance and winning elections based on our performance. The opposition must organize itself,” he emphasized.
Yilwatda referred to the recent by-election victories across the nation, pointing to these outcomes as evidence of increasing public confidence in the APC and its leadership.
He reaffirmed the party's commitment to maintaining the benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that its advantages extend to all Nigerians.
