Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has granted approval for the promotion and conversion of 2,114 civil servants as a result of their participation in the promotion and conversion exercises held in November and December 2025.

This decision, which is effective immediately, encompasses the financial implications tied to the newly assigned ranks, ensuring that the affected civil servants can enjoy their elevated status without delay.

Robison Odo, the Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission, revealed this news to reporters on Tuesday in Enugu. He described the decision as timely and beneficial for morale, even comparing it to an Easter gift for the workforce.

Odo mentioned that the promotion exercise involved staff at Grade Levels 01 to 17 who successfully passed the respective promotion interviews. He assured stakeholders that the commission would promptly act to implement the governor's directive.

Furthermore, Odo expressed appreciation for the administration's ongoing commitment to the welfare of workers, pointing out that timely payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities has become a hallmark of Governor Mbah's leadership. He noted that the state's minimum wage of N80,000 surpasses the national benchmark, exemplifying the governor’s worker-friendly policies.

The commission chairman emphasized the need for consistency in maintaining discipline, fostering innovation, and enhancing productivity within the civil service to align with the administration’s development vision.

Godwin Anigbo, the Head of the Civil Service in Enugu, remarked that the governor’s policies foster an environment conducive to reform and the efficient delivery of services. He emphasized that the administration’s focus on innovation has raised the standard of public service, equipping workers with modern skills needed for optimal functioning.

Additionally, Anigbo highlighted the importance of the governor's approval for establishing a public service training institute, considering it vital in strengthening institutional capacity and improving operational efficiency.

Despite significant investments in infrastructure and other capital-intensive projects, Anigbo reaffirmed that the current administration remains steadfast in its dedication to the welfare of its workers.
