On Tuesday, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State made a visit to the Abuja office of Qatar Charity, where he was warmly welcomed by the Country Director, Shaikh Assem Abu Al-Shaer. This engagement was aimed at deepening the existing partnership, which has led to significant improvements in the quality of life for residents of Jigawa State over the past two years.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Governor Namadi emphasized the positive impacts of this collaboration. He noted, “Through this partnership, numerous communities in Jigawa have gained from housing developments, mosques, Islamic educational institutions, boreholes, solar water systems, and various empowerment initiatives including tricycles, motorcycles, and grinding machines.”
Furthermore, the Governor acknowledged Qatar Charity's crucial role in transforming rural areas within the state, asserting that his administration is dedicated to ensuring the proper management and sustainability of these facilities.
“On behalf of the citizens of Jigawa State, I express profound gratitude for this ongoing support. I assure that each project that reaches our communities will be utilized judiciously, maintained properly, and preserved to ensure lasting benefits,” he continued.
The collaboration between the Jigawa State Government and Qatari charitable organizations, especially Qatar Charity, is part of a wider initiative that aims to tackle infrastructure deficiencies and alleviate poverty in Northern Nigeria.
This humanitarian initiative by Qatar Charity in Jigawa is particularly targeted at vulnerable populations, including widows, orphans, and youths affected by the severe flooding that has historically plagued the area, providing them with modern housing.
This partnership stands as a key element of Governor Namadi’s 12-point agenda, which prioritizes social welfare and the development of human resources.
