Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has addressed the intent of former governors, Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and T.A. Orji, to file a lawsuit against him for conducting official business from his private residence located in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that insiders suggest the potential lawsuit is part of larger political maneuvering in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Abia State in 2027. To date, no official legal action has been documented.

In an interview with journalists, Governor Otti remarked, "I usually refrain from commenting on such matters. However, my sole observation is that it's all just noise. It is puzzling that someone would consider suing me for choosing not to operate from their residence in Umuahia. My legal representatives are on standby. I have examined the constitution thoroughly and found no requirement stating I must reside in a specific location. The residents of Abia are primarily concerned with my performance rather than my place of residence. They are also aware that the state of the government house was not suitable for habitation."

He further noted that restoration projects are currently underway at both the government house and the governor's lodge.
