Governor Otu Honors Cross River Women and Promises Ongoing Economic Support

Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State praised the women of his state in celebration of International Women’s Day, acknowledging their vital contributions to both social and economic advancement.

In a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, the governor emphasized that women play an essential role in driving progress across various sectors such as agriculture, commerce, education, and public service.

Otu reiterated his government's dedication to creating more opportunities for women within critical sectors of the economy. He highlighted that the state government has placed a strong emphasis on initiatives and policies designed to enhance women's participation in agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, and technology, declaring that empowering women is both a social duty and a pivotal economic approach for sustainable development.

He noted that the significant impact women have on economic growth and community development cannot be overstated.

Additionally, the governor referenced the State of Women’s Economic Empowerment report by BudgIT, which positioned Cross River among the forefront of states that promote women’s economic inclusion. This acknowledgment serves as a validation of the administration's efforts in sectors such as agriculture, education, innovation, and the creative economy.
