A Defining Moment
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised these achievements, calling them a significant milestone for the state.
“These successes make us proud as a government and as citizens of Lagos State. They demonstrate the commitment and hard work of our young athletes, as well as the ongoing revitalization of the school sports framework in Lagos, bolstered by devoted parents, educators, coaches, and administrators,” he stated.
Lekan Fatodu, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, similarly celebrated the athletes’ historic performances.
“This landmark achievement of our schools and young athletes vividly illustrates what can be accomplished when talent finds the right structure, vision, and support. These athletes not only secured medals but also embodied the essence of Lagos’ spirit, confidence, discipline, resilience, and excellence on a global stage,” Fatodu remarked. “We take immense pride in each athlete, coach, school administrator, and parent whose collective efforts led to this remarkable success.”
The upcoming reception is designed not just to celebrate success but to encourage other young students to pursue academic excellence alongside sporting aspirations—highlighting Lagos’ commitment to being a premier hub for youth sports development across Nigeria.
